PROVIDING FEEDBACK

Providing feedback through screen capture came across it in 2000 while at the BETT conference in London. Thanks that the technology allows you to record the screen of your own computer as if you have a video camera pointing at it, you could use it to record literally anything that you can open onto your computer screen. You could be recording yourself as you talk over a marking scheme, a grammar lesson or even as you show a series of pictures on your computer screen. Also,  records your voice allowing you to make videos where you talk over whatever you are showing on your video screen. Moreover, this is a great tool for online class or non-classroom classes. aiding the teachers and students to have an interaction and meaningful feedback.however, this resource can be use for any teacher especially when they have to check essays, instead of write the feedback they can create a video giving a personal feedback through the screen capture. To end,  Screen capture technology and specifically the idea of using the technology for providing feedback to students, both have a long future in education.

First, we have to take in account that students have a cellphone and if they are young ask for permissions to their parents. Then, teachers have to create plans or objectives to achieve the language learning. Here I will mention some activities using mobile phone device.

1.       Use the Voice Memo Recorder feature to record conversations outside the classroom: students can record interview or conversations they engage in outside the classroom and make discussion in class.

2.       Use the Text Messaging feature for circular writing: students can create a story together by contributing one text message at a time. Each student writes a sentence or two and then sends this on to the next student, who adds another message, and so on until the story is complete.

3.       Use the mobile phone for social networking: Like Twitter, Facebook and Myspace where students can post pictures and comment about it using the target language.

4.       Use the mobile phone to play games: such as Scrabble and crossword puzzles and so on. You have to select the appropriate games for encourage them to learn the new language and aid them to search more games that help them in this process.

5.       Use the mobile phone to check student comprehension and get feedback: One way is to add an element of interactivity to your classes through audience participation. How vocabulary and reading comprehension are related and how technology aid them.

Reading is an active activity that involves the reader with the text. How students L2 acquire the reading skill is very important, because through readings learners make use of variety of skills and strategies, combined with background knowledge. In fact, vocabulary plays an important role in the reading comprehension process. For instance, a fluent L2/FL reader need to know about 2,000 to 7,000 words and sometimes even more if they want to reach native-like fluency. And for understanding of academic text is required to know at least of 7,000 words. So that, a reader has to recognize 95% of word in whatever text to comprehend it, and he or she has to know the different meanings and the grammatical properties of word according to the context. This means that vocabulary and reading are inter-related because a good reader has a rich vocabulary, and vocabulary is the key that ensure reading proficiency.
Furthermore, teachers are aid though with some technological resources. For instance, or vocabulary acquisition, instructors could make great use of technology by using multimedia glossed texts, electronic dictionaries, corpora and concordance software, as well as various vocabulary-building software. Moreover, full glossing seems to be the best facilitator of vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension, as opposed to little or non-glossed texts. In addition, best results in retention are provoke by picture + text annotations, whereas pronunciation, video, and audio glosses seem to correlate negatively with reading comprehension. However, not all of them are significant for classroom instructions. There are some materials are focus on a specific skill, while other on a wide range of skill and strategies. This means that teachers have to select materials that motivate students and materials appropriate for their level.
To sum up, the vocabulary must be taught first in order to improve the reading comprehension in the learns. Teachers are aid through technology. Like, multimedia glosses for vocabulary and reading development, multimedia-enhanced electronic dictionaries designed specifically for English language learners, and which have several built in aids that their book counterparts cannot provide and other multimedia task that  contain various types of content, such as text, audio, video, graphics, animation, and interactivity.

The integrations of podcast in the classroom.

Now in days we can find different technological advances, and teachers have to implement those resources to make the class more interesting or attract student’s attention and aid the learns to develop their English skill. One of the resources are the podcast that aid student to develop listening skill Throughout many language programs; listening skills are taught with the use of audiotape cassettes for use either in the whole classroom or for use by the individual student. The advantage of the uses of podcast is that ESL (English as a Second Language) is achieve to students using record that are made by native speaker. This allowed students to acquire the authentic language. Also, teaching listening in the second language classroom is a multi-purpose activity because learners must use this resource for ‘learning to listen’ and for ‘listening to learn’. This mean that can be built such as project (e.g., discerning the opinions of several experts in a particular topic area), or a task (e.g., following oral directions in map reading), as a resource (e.g., honing the ability to distinguish amongst discrete sounds) or as a stimulus for related work in other skill areas (e.g., listening to a lecture and then writing up a summary before having to deliver an oral presentation). Furthermore, there were a range of cultural, organizational, psychological, and social barriers to integration of technology. For instance, insufficient time, lack of relevant institution development, lack of on-site technology support, inadequate or no access to necessary hardware or software, and receiving few rewards for efforts. But, this is related to the teacher’s environment. However, the technological approaches aid students to interact more. E.g. students can create their own podcast as a way to practice speaking, listening ad writing in some case. Moreover, podcast is really accessible for pupils they can make use of this through an Apple iPod, computers, smartphones and other portable MP3 players. Week 2.

ICT Tools to Foster Metacognitive Awareness and the Learning Autonomy.

firstly, is necessary to know what autonomy or autonomous learning mean and what metacognitive awareness refers to. So that, I am going to give a short description about them. learner autonomy is the capacity of student to identify the academic deficiencies, and be able to find a way to overcome and improve these areas; In fact, this leads students to become autonomous because they begging to create their own learning goals and analyze their own progress. On the other hand, metacognitive awareness is referring to self-knowledge in other words, is the knowledge that learners have about their cognitive potential and limitations and other personal traits that affect school performance.

After explaining the above, we return to the topic. Infusing technology like CALL or ICT in the classroom may significantly contribute to the growth in learners’ motivation, autonomy and thinking skills. Teachers play an important role in developing learner’s autonomy through the creation of activities were students have the opportunity to reflect on what they have done and how they achieve their personal learning aim. Moreover, technology has been used for practice the different language skills such as, pronunciation, spelling, grammar and writing. Nonetheless, something that teachers have to keep in mind that some in some students the autonomy can be innate or be acquire in a self-taught way. Therefore; teachers have to create strategies making use of virtual fields to encourage critical thougth, the initiative and cooperative work.

To end, the aim of a teacher to create autonomous learners is to aid them to create good learning habits through different platforms using the technology resources or activities like assessments. Also, this aid students to acknowledge what are their perfect learning Ways.

THE USES OF THE COMPUTER IN THE LEARNING PROCESS.

The uses of the technology in the learning process has increased through the years. Computers have been used for language teaching since the 1960s it was used first as a behaviorist were students just took the computer as a mechanical tutor that allowed them to work individual but this idea was rejected and they decided to used as a communicative tool this allow pupils to generate a good utterance as well many teachers saw the advantages like it was more socio-cognitive where integrated students in a real environment and aid them to develop their input and output skills.

what call my attention about the article was when the writer says "the teacher has become a facilitator of learning rather than the font of wisdom, and will find, select, and offer information in a variety of ways on the basis of what the students must learn in order to meet diverse needs." (pg58) is mind that the technological resources do not come to substitute the role of teachers but came to give them tools for make their job easy and for help students to have a great experience in the learning process.

Thanks to the technological advances were created new flexible software that going to change and improve three key sistem areas that are: the knowledge acquisition, interaction with multiple underlying system and partial understanding.

To end, in my on words the uses of the computer and the differents technological resources are helping  not just the educators, but also the students to develop their skills. And Thanks to the internet, windows and software advance in term of education transform the society and the classroom environment in a very educational approaches.
